More than twice as many girls' teams

In less than two years, the number of girls' teams for 6–7-year-olds in Oslo's most disadvantaged districts has grown from 5 to 11.

Almost two years ago, the Football Association of Norway launched the «For Oslo» project together with the City of Oslo, Den Rosa Sko, the Zuccarello Foundation and Sparebankstiftelsen SR-Bank. The goal is to get more girls into sport. The City of Oslo and Sparebankstiftelsen SR-Bank each contributed NOK 3 million, and the Zuccarello Foundation has also supported Den Rosa Sko.

The results so far:

  • Girls' teams (age 6–7) in NFF Oslo's match programme: up from 5 to 11
  • 102 young female coaches trained
  • Youth girls' futsal teams: up from 29 to 64
  • 14 young women from clubs in disadvantaged areas taking part in leadership programmes – for the first time this year

We're not there yet, but it's worth celebrating along the way. More female coaches and leaders make it easier to bring girls into clubs – and keep them there.
